ON DECEMBER 13TH 2013, RICH MALFITANO ROLLING THUNDER® FLORIDA CHAPTER 8 WAS APPROVED AS AN OFFICIAL CERTIFYING ORGANIZATIONAL REPRESENTATIVE FOR THE "PRESIDENTS VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARDS PROGRAM."

THE PRESIDENTS VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD (PVSA)

Together with our Certifying Organization partners,  each year over 130,000  Americans are recognized with the President's Volunteer Service Award and certified more than 64,000,000 service hours.

GENERAL: The President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation established in 2003, formally recognizes the valuable contributions volunteers are making in our communities and throughout the Nation, and through the award process more people are encouraged to serve. The Council created the President’s Volunteer Service Award program as a way to thank and honor Americans who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service.

AWARD ELIGIBILITY: Any individual, family, or group can receive Presidential recognition for volunteer hours earned over a 12-month period or over the course of a lifetime at home or abroad. There are three age groups.  a) Kids ages 5-14, b) Young Adults: ages 15-25 and c) Adults: ages 26 and above.

AWARD STRUCTURE: Is designed to recognized individuals for their service throughout their volunteer journey. The structure is broken down by age and hourly requirements with four different levels of achievement. Recognition may be given to an individual, group or family for hours served within 12 months or lifetime of service for an individual. The chart below figure 1outlines The Award Structure.

AWARD CRITERIA: Any individual, family or group that meets the program’s criteria can apply for the Presidential recognition for volunteer service. The Award Criteria is as follows. * Recipients must be United States citizens or lawfully admitted permanent residents of the United States. * Awards are issued for service hours served within a 12-month time period or over the course of a lifetime. * Awards are issued for volunteer service only.  Additional levels of participation with the organization, i.e. charitable support, are not a factor considered for the award. * Court-ordered community service does not qualify for the award. * Awards are issued by approved Certifying Organizations. * Service must be with an organization that is legally established in the United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or the territories.

THE  (PVSA): is the premier volunteer awards program, encouraging United States citizens or lawfully admitted permanent residents of the United States through presidential recognition to live a life of volunteer service. It recognizes United States citizens and lawfully admitted permanent residents of the United States who have achieved the required number of hours of service over a 12-month time period or cumulative hours over the course of a lifetime.
