Rolling Thunder Washington, DC First Amendment Demonstration Run might be the most massive motorcycle run that you've ever seen. Thousands of motorcycles pass by giving tribute to American veterans of all wars. The history of this rally dates back to the times of the Vietnam War. It was first organized in 1988 to support the servicemen that were left behind as prisoners of war. Since then, the rally has become one of the biggest displays of American patriotism held annually during Memorial Day weekend.
Beginning in 2020, the Rolling Thunder Inc. Ride For Freedom POW/MIA demonstration ride will take place simultaneously across the country, in the States where Rolling Thunder chapters are active. Go to side bar #21 (to the right) for State chapter register.
The Purpose: To inform the American people and to remind the government of America's demand for the fullest possible accountability of Prisoners of War (POWs) and those Missing in Action (MIAs) from all past wars. This event & tribute to American war heroes started out in 1988 with 2,500 participants and has grown over the more than 30 years to over 800,000 participants and spectators.
